The difference were the goals. 16 shots each and nothing really between them on the pitch. All 3 goal were gifted. The first half the Wares outstripped Colney in attempts at goal.

The first 6 minutes Colney hard the bit between the teeth and had a corner and 2 attempts at goal with Clements being their threat. The next 5 minutes the Wares reciprocated with corner and attempts by McGleish and Mooney. Colney then piled on the pressure until Ofori had a go himself in the 14th minute. It took until the 17th minute before first blood was struck when a ball was floated to the back post from a corner that landed on the head of a Colney player that then crossed the line. The game continued as both teams had periods of possession and with added time on the clock The Wares had an open goal opportunity to level but the ball comes off Moony’s shin and goes over the bar! Seconds later a long ball becomes a misjudged clearance for the ball to bounce and roll into the strikers path 2-0.

Colney come out with confidence in the second half and it took about 10 minutes for the Wares to get going. Several good opportunities fell to the Wares but the attempts were just not clinical enough to make a difference. The Wares make their first substitution in the 80th minutes as Robinson is off for Amoah and 2 minutes later Carruthers comes on for McGleish. The intensity of the game dies slightly and in the 86th another error gives Clements another opportunity to feed himself which he does by smashing the ball into the back of the net. A couple more chance fall for the Wares but they were not able to make the most of them.
