A reasonable first half. Wares were slightly edging it. Some good football all around. Needed to be a little more clinical and make more of half chances. Wares had more chances both on and off target and there was some good play throughout the second half and deserved the win.

It took 9 minutes for the Wares to get threatening when Adam Page drew first blood with a shot off target. About 5 minutes later on 15 Ryan Carruthers goes on a mazey run to deliver a great through pass into Theo Ofori’s feet for him to calmly slot it pass the Potton keeper 1-0. 24 minutes in and Potton equalise with a well worked counter attack from a Wares corner. A couple of half chance for both team come and go then just before half time Theo Ofori hits one on target but saved. Could have been in front as earlier in the half Ethan Mooney struck a ball to hit the underside of the bar to bounce somewhere on or over the line…

HT: 1-1

Despite the heat the second half started off with quite a bit of energy. Not much to say until the 59th minute when from a corner a Wares player struck a ball to be stopped by a Potton hand and a penalty was awarded. The Penalty was duly dispatched by Eric Lopes. Michael Koscien replaced Ryan Carruthers in the 62nd minute and It didn’t take long when on 67 minutes Potten were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area. A great strike hit the underside of the bar and went in to make it 2-2. Another substitution in the 72nd minute were Brian Mooney replaced Eric Lopes. Not the most fluid of football in the last quarter of the game but enough for a great counter in the 82nd minute as Theo Ofori slid in Adam Page in time for him to get the ball under control and push it past the keeper for the third goal 3-2. The rest of the game was played out in game management to see out the game.
