The first half was a good of football. Both teams played well. The Wares were just more clinical. In the second half the Wares held out well in the end. The organisation in defence in the final minutes was the telling point after a very scrappy half. The game was not controlled well by the officials which led to sendings off. Shame as that marred what could have been an entertaining game.

In the first 5 minutes Crawley were looking the more lively to include a shot on target but comfortably held by Harry. As the game moved on there was a lovely move by the Wares that led to a ball across the face of goal picked up by Mikkel at the far post who set it back for Ryan to have a strike but off target. in the 5th minute a free kick to Crawley flies over to the far post for the striker to have a go at goal. The ball was push over by Harry. Moments later GOAL! Crawley 0-1 Wares. A Great move again as Mikkel put a through ball into Theo’s feet to strike into the roof of the net. The Wares absorbed some pressure and operated on the counter. Substitution about 15 minutes in; an injury to Callum brings on David Barbagallo on for his debut. Marksy moved from midfield to CB. Both teams were playing some good football with half chances at this point. The Wares were looking composed and another great move saw Theo open his body up for a shot that went wide after making his way through the defence. Theo then picked up a caution for simulation that was a bit harsh. Crawley picked up a bit of momentum and kept playing the ball to the back post giving them some real chances. close out the final moments of the half GOAL! Crawley 0-2 Wares. Some nice combination play around the box and then finally to Ethan he set back to Theo who curled it into the far post.

HT 0-2

The second half just wasn’t as good and it descended into a farce largely due to poor officiating. Early on, in the first few minutes of the second half GOAL! Crawley 1-0 Wares. Confusion in the box for the Wares. The ball was not cleared on several occasions and Crawley managed to toe poke the ball in to halve the lead. Moments later the Wares put the ball in the back of the net but it didn’t count as the referee somehow conspires to overrule the linesman for a non existent off side. Mikkel picks up a yellow for a late challenge. The game started to take a nasty turn as players make dubious challenges on both sides. It became very scrappy with no real flow to it. Crawley were really pushing and the Wares were weathering a storm. Shortly after the Wares were back to operating on the counter with Crawley really going for it. As the game became fractious a red card was produced for the Crawley 4 for hitting Theo. Theo also saw red and Mikkel gets his red for jumping in to protect Theo. Game resumed in bad faith. The last minutes 20 minutes turned into a strange game with no fluidity and it became very stretched. Crawley had also hit the post. Crawley kept piling on the pressure with plenty of shots off target. Could the Wares hold out!? Yes, they could.
