Edgware got off to the perfect start scoring within the first minute of the game. This was followed by increased pressure from Oxhey which eventually led to an equaliser. Oxhey looked to be the stronger team at the start of the second half, it was the Wares who were to take the lead after some clever tactical substitutions, but this lead wasn’t to last as a mistake by Rio led to an Oxhey equaliser. The final 10 minutes were hugely entertaining and any side could have won it, but the game instead ended a draw. Another fair result.

On what was a great afternoon for football at Silver Jubilee Park with the sun shining, the Wares got off to a bright start scoring within the first minute of the game when Ryan curled an effort into the top corner 1-0. The Wares could have added to their lead when a long throw from Rio found Hunte who turned inside, only to have his powerful effort parried away. Oxhey grew into the game and were putting pressure on the Wares backline with a long-range effort on 16 minutes just going over. A free kick on 20 minutes just went wide of the post, just before Oxhey got their equaliser when a shot was slotted in at the far post as the Wares failed to make a tackle 1-1. Tyriq and Lolu were linking up well throughout the game and could have found the net twice in quick succession through good counter-attacking play from the Wares. The half then ended with high intensity from both teams, but very few chances with a succession of fouls from both sides.

HT: 1-1

The second half started quite edgy for both sides as a number of mistakes could have led to goals for either side. Oxhey had the majority of the possession in the early stages and could have found themselves in front if they had taken their chances better with an effort going well over on 51 minutes. Edgware started to find their stride on the counter with Tyriq shooting straight at the keeper just before Lolu came close with his effort just gliding over the bar. Tyriq was close to rounding the keeper after a brilliant through ball from Lolu, only for the keeper to just clip the ball away. The Wares made a succession of substitutions and they certainly paid off as Claudio played some neat one-twos to set through Tyriq to put the Wares in front, which set up the game for a lively finish 2-1. Claudio, only on for about five minutes was nearly provider again when a low cross was just turned wide. Oxhey however responded quickly when a quick break, after a mistake from Rio, led to a cross being simply tapped in from Sean Giordmania with his second of the game. The final five minutes were intense with both sides looking for that vital winner with a lot of end to end stuff, but a goal wasn’t to be and the points were ultimately shared.
