This was a highly energetic game and the two sides were fairly evenly matched. A draw would have been a fair result. Both teams had 5 shot on target.

Cockfosters started the brighter and within 10 minutes a ball was floated in from a free kick to the back post and met unchallenged by a Cockfoster’s forward 0-1. The Wares then had an excellent spell of about 30 minutes of good possession. On 17 minutes James hits the crossbar with a shot from just outside the box only for the ball to be then cleared for a corner, on 20 minutes Manitou hits a fearful long range shot that forces the keeper to parry away and on 32 minutes a goal mouth scramble in the Foster’s box saw a chance narrowly missed. With 10 minutes to go Fosters hit the underside of the bar and score with a break away goal in the 38th minute 0-2. Harsh really given an even game. Just before the end of the first half Pett goes just over from just outside the box.

HT - 0-2

No changes at half time and the same kind of start with Cockfosters making the best use of the first 10 minutes. James comes off for Hill in the 57th minutes and shortly after the away side also make a change but these had no real affect on the game. Cockfosters force a good save from Davies in the 61 minutes and the game continues from end to end. At this point the game inevitable becomes stretched as the ball continues to be moved quickly from one end to the other and players start to get tired. Manitou off for Durnin in the 68th minute but still the game doesn’t really change and much the same can be said for the last substitution on 79 minutes when Thomas came on for Gray, although the Wares had slightly more possession and were pressing more. In the 86th minute the Wares had a corner and the result was a loose ball just inside the box which was poked home by Hill 1-2. Try as they might the Wares were just not able to get a much deserved equaliser.
